The School Day

During the normal school week the time spent on teaching the whole curriculum, excluding assemblies, registration and breaks, is 24 hours.

Daily Timetable:
1st Session 8.30 - 10.15
Break 10.15 - 10.30
2nd Session 10.30 - 12.00
Lunch Break 12 - 1
3rd Session 1-3/3:15

Starting and finishing times

We run a staggered start to school to help the traffic in the lane stay manageable for all.  The gates are open between 8:30-8:45am with all children to be in by 8:45am at the latest.  Buttercups and Poppy (Years R-2) finish school at 3pm and Willow and Oakwood (Years 3-6) finish at 3:15pm.  We suggest that Buttercup and Poppy class arrive at 8:30am so they can have their full entitlement of 32.5 hours in school a week.

Lunch

All children are able to have either hot school meals or a packed lunch.  These can be mixed and matched on a daily basis.  The hot school meals are ordered online in advance directly from Chartwells.  If you are entitled to free school meals please contact the school office for a form. During good weather children with packed lunches eat outside at picnic tables in the playground. Scan the QR code below for Chartwells updated information.

Playtimes

In the middle of the morning the children play outside on the hard surfaced playgrounds, but at lunchtime they are also allowed on our large playing field. The field is often muddy, so we ask that all children keep a pair of wellington boots at school. If it is raining the children are supervised while they play indoors.

Swimming

Children from Year 3 to Year 6 have a ten week series of lessons each school year at The Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill. You will be advised of the cost of this when your child is due to swim.

Clubs

The clubs on offer, at lunchtime and after-school, will depend on the time of year and the staff who are available. Recently children have been able to choose from art, drama, science, netball, football, basketball, cricket, cross-country running, choir, orchestra, cooking, chess, dance and gardening.
